Product Sizes Onboarding Guide for Planufac

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to import size variants into Planufac using the provided template. Follow this guide to ensure that all required fields are completed properly for a successful import.

Use a product size when you have different pack sizes of the same product, for example,

Product A - Single Consumer Selling Unit

—Product A 10 Pack - Retailer Selling Pack

—Product A 200 Pack - Wholesale Selling Unit

in this example "Product A" would be the product and "Product A 10 Pack" & "Product A 200 Pack" would be Product Sizes.

Required for a Successful Import

  • Ensure Data Accuracy: Double-check that each SKU, barcode, and quantity is entered correctly.
  • Unique SKUs: Each size variant must have a unique child_sku.
  • Use Correct Variant Types: Make sure the correct type (e.g., "Outer Pack" or "Master Case") is selected for each size variant.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Import Failure: If the import fails, Planufac will display an error message.
    • Missing Mandatory Fields: Ensure that all required fields are completed.
    • Incorrect Data: Verify that the data in each field is in the correct format.
  • Duplicate SKUs: Ensure that each child_sku is unique across all size variants.

    Download the Template Here

  • Open the template using a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

3. Fill in the Required Fields

Mandatory Fields:

These fields must be filled in to ensure the size variants are imported successfully:

  1. parent_sku – The SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) of the main product to which the size variant applies (e.g., "MAIN-SKU"). This links the size variant to the main product, ensuring all variants are grouped correctly under one product for inventory and sales tracking.
  2. type – Specify the type of size variant, typically listed as "size". This field identifies the size variant and helps Planufac differentiate between various types of product groupings.
  3. child_sku – The unique SKU for the specific size variant (e.g., "MAIN-SKUx10" for a pack of 10 items or "MAIN-SKUx400" for a master case containing several outer packs). Each size variant must have its own child_sku to ensure proper tracking of different pack sizes in your inventory system.
  4. qty – The quantity of items in the size variant (e.g., "10" for a pack of 10, "400" for a master case containing 400 items). For example, an Outer Pack may consist of 10 items, while a Master Case can contain multiple outer packs.

barcode – The barcode associated with the size variant. If the variant does not have a specific barcode, you can generate and assign any long number as a barcode. Barcodes are essential for scanning during stock management and tracking different pack sizes efficiently.

variant – Defines the type of packaging for the size variant. This can be either an Outer Pack or a Master Case.

    • Outer Pack: Packaging for a smaller group of items, such as a pack of 10 products.
    • Master Case: Contains multiple Outer Packs (e.g., 10 outer packs, resulting in 100 items total).

Optional Fields:

These additional fields can be filled to provide more detailed product data:

  1. stock_unit – The unit in which the stock is tracked (e.g., "Each").
  2. weight_unit – The unit for weight measurements (e.g., "Gram").
  3. weight – The total weight of the variant.
  4. width, height, depth – Dimensions of the product variant (e.g., "500 mm" for each dimension).

4. Save the Completed Template

  • Review all the filled fields to ensure they are correct.
  • Save the file in the original format (CSV or Excel).

5. Import the Template

  • Go back to the Import/Export section in Planufac.
  • Select the Sizes option.
  • Upload the completed file.
  • Confirm the import by clicking the Upload button.
