Purpose
The new Custom Sales Forecast Dashboard gives a clear, data-based view of product demand, stock levels, and upcoming purchase orders. It helps teams predict future sales, keep track of inventory, and make smart buying decisions in advance.
Business Context
Forecast Calculations
● Provides real-time visibility into stock health and projected demand.
● Improves inventory planning and reduces stockouts.
● Allows exporting reports for sharing and offline analysis.
● Automatically adapts to filters and user selections without reloading the page.
Average Monthly Sales: Calculated using the product’s low threshold value divided by a fixed forecast period (Default set @ 5 months).
Average Daily Sales (ADS) Calculation
The system analyses the past 5 months of sales data to compute the Average Daily Sales (ADS) for each product.
The date in which you will view the Custom Forecast Dashboard, it will display that months (ADS) it’s derived from the product’s threshold value divided by the forecast period (default: 5 months), providing a baseline monthly average before applying growth.
After that, each month’s (ADS) increases by assuming a 6% growth rate over the previous month’s (ADS). The Dashboard displays only the current month’s (ADS).
Threshold
This is a fixed Value to determine what the Inventory level should be for the product. This is calculated by the business manually and set in Planufac. This is derived from the product’s defined threshold to estimate monthly and daily forecast requirements.
Purchase Order’s Columns
Open POs and PO Summary are displayed dynamically:
● Open Purchase Orders:
Lists all open purchase orders for each product, sorted in ascending order by their expected receiving date.
Displays each PO’s number and the open quantity (qty) still pending receipt.
● PO Summary:
The PO Summary shows the expected inventory availability on each PO’s expected delivery date. It calculates how inventory levels will change as each PO arrives, using the following formulas:
First Open PO: For the first open PO (the earliest expected receiving date), the system uses:
((QOH Minus Wanted − (ADS × Days Difference)) + PO Qty
QOH Minus Wanted: Current available stock after allocation.
ADS: Average Daily Sales for the month in which the PO is expected to arrive.
Days Difference: Number of days between the current date and the PO’s expected receiving date.
PO Qty: Quantity of the purchase order for that specific product.
Subsequent Open POs: For the second and all following POs, the calculation builds on the previous PO’s result:
(Previous PO Projected Stock − (ADS × Days Difference)) + PO Qty
Previous PO Projected Stock: The inventory projection calculated for the last open PO.
ADS: Average Daily Sales for the month of this PO’s expected receiving date.
Days Difference: Number of days between the previous PO’s receiving date and the current PO’s receiving date.
PO Qty: Quantity of the current open PO.
This approach ensures a cumulative calculation — each PO’s forecasted inventory is based on the result of the previous one, giving a rolling view of how stock levels will evolve as multiple POs are received.
Field Behaviours:
Displays Dynamic Sales Forecast Table for each product’s Threshold level inventory and forecast metrics. The Dashboard offers intuitive filters to refine sales forecast data dynamically. All filters automatically refresh the table when adjusted, ensuring real-time updates without a page reload.
