Email when a product barcode is changed
Overview
Planufac automations can send an email when a product barcode is updated.
This condition is specific to barcode only. Other product field changes do not fire this rule. It works for the parent product and for child / size variant products.
Example automation name: BARCODE CHANGE NOTIFICATION EMAIL

What it does
When the automation is active and matches:
- A product is created or updated.
- Planufac checks whether the barcode changed (parent or child/variant).
- If Barcode Changed = True, it sends an email to the address you configure.
- The email should include product name (and variant when relevant), SKU, barcode, and a note that the barcode changed from X to Y.
Why this is useful
Barcode changes can affect scanning, packing, integrations, and marketplace listings. A dedicated alert means the right people are told as soon as a barcode is edited, without noise from every other product edit.
Where to set it up
- Open Automations in Planufac (Automations list).
- Create a new automation or open an existing one.
- Tick Active if you want it running.
Example setup
| Setting | Example value |

How to create the automation (step by step)
- Go to Automations.
- Create a new automation.
- Set Automation Name (e.g. BARCODE CHANGE NOTIFICATION EMAIL).
- Tick Active.
- Set Trigger On to Created or Updated.
- Under conditions, choose If ALL of these conditions are true.
- Add: Barcode Changed → Equals → True.
- Under Actions, choose Send Email and select who should receive it.
- Save the automation.
Important: This condition targets barcode changes only — not every product information update. It covers parent products and child / size variant products.
Tips
- Confirm the recipient before leaving the rule active.
- Name the automation clearly so it is not confused with product-created or first-stock rules.
- After go-live, change a test product’s barcode (in a safe environment) and confirm the email shows old → new barcode, name/variant, and SKU.
